Born and educated in the Redcar region of Cleveland, Anne trained as a radiographer. In 1965 she and her husband emigrated to Canada and lived in eastern Ontario for 14 years. In 1979, now with two children, the family moved back to England and settled in the Derby area in 1988.
Anne has always done some form of craftwork, learning to knit, embroider, tat and dressmake at an early age. In Canada she was introduced to quilting. She met other members of the group whilst completing the City & Guilds Part 1 Embroidery and Design course, Parts 1 and 2 Patchwork and the Quilting and Embroidery Diploma with Eve Luter at Derby College.
Since finishing her City & Guilds courses, Anne has revisited several of the disciplines that they touched on in passing. She also tries to keep up to date by taking as many day schools courses as she can. This has lead to a lot of experimentation in her work. She is a member of the Trent & Erewash Valley Embroiderers’ Guild.
