Eddie Cheadle

Having learned to sew and knit at an early age from a mother who was a dressmaker and seamstress, Eddie made clothes as a teenager and made her own wedding dress and bridesmaids’ outfits. Later her two daughters benefited from toys and outfits as they grew, and having taught herself to make patterns, Eddie also made them ball gowns for university events. Over the years, a love of fabrics led to the making of home items and gifts for family and friends, and attendance at many craft fairs, as well as a broadening of textile knowledge. Nowadays, with more textile skills such as machine embroidery, spinning, weaving and felt making, Eddie enjoys combining techniques to make base fabrics before making them up into more decorative pieces. Eddie recently achieved a Textile Foundation Degree, and she uses her skills to make more pictorial work, based on her love of nature in general and the local countryside in particular.

Eddie is a member of the Ashbourne Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild. She feels that joining Stitch ‘n Mix has provided a chance to work with friendly, like minded people in a supportive and fun atmosphere.
